At Valcourt, we work hard but we have fun doing it.
We work in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Everybody
knows everybody in our organization and we treat each
other with respect and dignity. We don’t believe
in management by fear or intimidation. We explain what
we’re trying to accomplish and why that’s
our goal.
We
like to make our goals attractive to everyone on the
team. If everyone on our team agrees and understands
where we’re going, business seems to take care of itself.
Most people spend the best hours of the best days of
their lives at work. Those precious days should be interesting
and rewarding, not a prison sentence to be marked off
on a calendar until it’s over.
Lots of opportunities to advance? You bet! Most of
the supervisors, managers and executives at Valcourt
were promoted from within. We’ve all moved up
in our industry and in our company over the years. I
personally started out as a window cleaner in our business
and served in virtually every position along the way
to Chairman. Most of the Presidents, General Managers,
Superintendents, Supervisors, Foremen and various administrative
personnel can tell you the same story. We’re growing
fast and we need great people to help us. Stick around
for a while and you’ll move up too.
Everybody in the Valcourt group of companies is involved

If constantly learning and developing yourself sounds
like a chore or something you’d rather avoid then
don’t join up with Valcourt. I consider it my
personal responsibility to make sure that everyone is
learning new things—going to seminars, in-house
training, industry association meetings, college courses,
continuing education classes for adults and visiting
other branches or departments of our companies. i’ve
been accused of being a real zealot about this policy.
We’re
not a small company, but we’re not General Motors
either. If an organization is too big or bureaucratic,
it seems you can do an excellent job but not be able
to notice the impact your work had on the company’s
success. At Valcourt, you’ll definitely be able
to see the results created by your efforts. We pick
only the best people and give them the right training
and coaching. You’ll have the opportunity to make
some mistakes along the way, but you’ll end up
achieving many meaningful victories.
