Beachside One Condominium: Waterproofing & Restoration

In Sandestin, about 10 miles east of Destin, on Highway 98, is the gated community of high-rise condominiums which exemplifies the Florida lifestyle. Owners and guests alike can enjoy a round of golf by walking out the front door. Likewise, walking out their back door, they can relax on the beautiful sugar-sand beach.

However, even in paradise, the effects of sun, wind, rain, sand, and passage of time can take a toll on the exterior of a building. The building owners of Beachside One Condominium worked with consultant Pendleton + Bowman, Inc on a strategy to restore their home and investment.

Valcourt Building Services was selected as the contractor based on quality workmanship, price, and a reputation for customer satisfaction.

Repairs on the building were broken into sections so workers on swing stages could access the entire façade. Leaking planters that had caused structural damage were removed. Deteriorated areas of the façade were rebuilt with new stucco. Perimeter sealant around windows and doors was removed and replaced with a watertight bead. Windows in the lobby entry, sunroom, and porte-cochere required wet glazing to prevent moisture from migrating to interior spaces. A waterproof membrane was also applied to walking decks to protect aging concrete.

Last but not least, Valcourt primed and coated the building with an elastomeric coating system giving it a clean new look including the waterproof protection it needed.
