Challenge
Opened in 1928 and now a playground for distinguished celebrities, the 227-room Don CeSar Beach Resort provides luxury accommodations on St. Pete Beach. While blending European grandeur, seaside elegance and the enchantment of yesteryear, the pink towering palace’s exterior was showing the results of beachfront weather and Florida sunshine – so it was time to restore the historic beach resort to its greatness.
The owners of Don CeSar required an extensive list of waterproofing and restoration services including concrete and masonry repair, application of protective coatings and sealers, replacement of sealants and glazing, and the restoration of decorative tower facades.
Solution
A major part of Valcourt’s work is in the upscale hotel industry, so we understand the responsibility for performing high-quality exterior renovations while maintaining an atmosphere appropriate for affluent guests. Since Valcourt only works on occupied buildings, we know how to restore and beautify buildings while maintaining safety and minimizing any inconvenience to guests.
Valcourt approached the project’s complexity with skill and determination. Delaminated stucco was identified and repaired, decorative window frames were restructured, historic posts were recast and replaced, windows were glazed and sealed, and the landmark towers were made structurally sound. Finally, the entire hotel was wrapped in its famous flamingo-pink coating to prevent deterioration and restore the remarkable appearance of the resort. Guests will notice the refurbished charm of this historic, luxury resort, and we at Valcourt know we restored the sparkle to this beautiful beachfront gem.
