Rooftop Tent Tieback Anchor Installation at Marina Hotel

The Valcourt Group | Apr 04, 2024

The Challenge

Valcourt Safety Systems (VSS) was hired by our client to install tent anchor tiebacks on their rooftop. After numerous delays due to client revisions of the design, the client required the work to be completed in less than one month to host a holiday party in the newly renovated space.

Prior to project kick-off, the primary challenge was ensuring that all project materials would be on site in under one week to meet the deadline. While the tieback anchors were in stock, the client added tent leg support posts to the project scope. This required fabrication, galvanization, and delivery of the pedestals on site to start the project. The typical lead time to complete this from a standard manufacturer is six weeks.

To save time and ensure prompt delivery, VSS leveraged the resources of another Valcourt Group company, JOBS-AMST, to fabricate the tent leg support posts.

One day before the start date, the client revised the orientation of the design. The VSS team quickly created a new design with client approval.

The Solution

Once the project was underway, the Valcourt team laid out the anchor tiebacks and leg supports, while ensuring there were no obstructions to the special events kitchen underside.

Next, a routine inspection by the Fire Marshal revealed the building lacked a compliant roof access and egress plan. Valcourt paused work to develop the plan with the client. It was approved by the Fire Marshal the same day, enabling our team to get back to work.

With the end in sight, Valcourt was then stopped by the General Contractor inquiring about tent alignment. Because of our meticulous coordination ahead of time, Valcourt teams were confident the alignment was within 1/8 inch. Ultimately, the tent company confirmed our measurement accuracy.

Despite the challenges, Valcourt completed the project with one day to spare! The client and General Contractor were thoroughly impressed with the efficiency, organization, and communication of the Valcourt Group, all while staying on budget.
